We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local highway and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress wind and road noise while driving on the highway. It rides smoothly over bumps and ruts. The vehicle's acceleration is surprising fast, and it comes with adjustable regenerative brakes to enable "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.
The EV9 provides a large range and can be recharged within three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two modes of operation including eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode prioritizes torque and cruise control, as well as handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive, and offer a unique experience for those who have never driven an electrical vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, including a multi-purpose electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, transit or microtransit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star buses per month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric cars.
